The Windermere in Manhattan is on its way to becoming a boutique hotel. The eight-story building on West 57th Street and Ninth Avenue, which has been empty for years, got the go-ahead from the city Landmarks Preservation Commission for a zoning waiver which would allow it to add a rooftop structure as well as storefront windows, according to The Wall Street Journal.
