Downtown Brooklyn, get ready to meet your new neighbors — all 3,300 of them. A few of them are going to be looking down on you.
Thousands of new apartments — the vast majority of them market rate — are currently rising up in the revitalizing downtown district, essentially doubling the number of apartments available in the neighborhood.
Some 3,300 market-rate units are in construction, among them only 419 are affordable units, the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership reports. Among the market rate buildings is 388 Bridge St., a sleek tower that, at 53 stories and 575 feet high, surpasses the current borough record-holder, the Brooklyner — which stands at 512 feet, according to city records.
