A new promotional video for Brookfield’s massive Manhattan West project premiered a few changes for the 5.4 million-square-foot multi-building development bounded by 32nd and 33rd streets and Ninth and Tenth avenues in the Hudson Yards District. The video for the office-hotel-retail-residential development was first spotted by New York YIMBY, who astutely notes that the development’s Skidmore, Owings & Merrill-designed residential tower has a slightly more seamless look from renderings of yore and will rise 64 stories, despite earlier reports of a more stout 60-story height, and have 790 apartments.
The video also mentions a “Breezeway” from Tenth Avenue which would connect the development due east of Related’s Hudson Yards to the High Line at 30th Street. The walkway would be a huge aid to pedestrian traffic between the west side, Hudson Yards, and Manhattan West. A lot of effort and planning has gone into making the Hudson Yards District pedestrian friendly, especially with the inclusion of Hudson Park which will eventually stretch from West 33rd Street to West 39th Street between Hudson Boulevards East and West. In March, the City Planning Commission approved a zoning variance for Brookfield’s request to double Manhattan West’s outdoor space, which will link the new development with the old office building at 450 West 33rd Street, also owned by the company.
