Summer is a tough time to get any meaningful read on the economy as personal vacations, manufacturing plant retooling and a general sense of distraction from more serious pursuits tend to make the data fuzzy. Although the last two weeks were filled with economic data, it hasn’t presented a clear picture of where the US economy stands, or where it’s headed. This murkiness is not likely to last beyond August when back to school time corresponds with back to work time. Don’t fight it – enjoy the few remaining weeks of sun and fun!
